Attack Drone
Yesterday, I read and seeded an article about the government having contemplated, and laying out a legal framework for the use of attack drones against targeted American civilians. My 1st reaction upon reading the article with utter disbelief, followed closely by shock. After reading the article I seeded it (Drone strikes on U.S. citizens can be legal). For the rest of the day, and night, I could not get this thing out of my mind.
We've seen the horrific images of what these drones do against our enemies, not only in terms of what happens to the target(s), but also of the collateral damage done to innocents who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Women and children have paid a horrible price in the drone wars of Afghanistan. And now our government is saying that it will be a useful tool in its arsenal against its own citizens.
Equally disturbing is the fact that Law Enforcement agencies across the nation are also clamoring for drones as a necessary component to their arsenal, although they claim they would use them for surveillance of suspected criminal activity, and or, tracking suspected criminals. I find this horrifying! I want to know what people think about this. Do you feel the government/police have any business using these deadly hunter-killers of skies against their own population(s)?
